Lino lessons at Kids Club!
Jacob’s Story
This is one memory which was branded into my brain at EVERY session at Kids Club. This being the Aluminium Strip and the Linoleum flooring! This is quite a strange thing to remember so vividly, but the way that Steve Bodman presented his “Do not pass the line” talk is exceptionally unusual. Any normal individual would simply say “Don’t cross onto the linoleum”, but Steve: no! Every Wednesday we would be given a full-blown LECTURE on the history and many uses of linoleum, and when he ran out of facts for that, the aluminium strip!
Another clear memory would be how at the start of club, when we did activities, we would be called by a song from Shrek – “Welcome to Duloc”. There would be ABSOLUTE CARNAGE to not be the last person to sit in the coloured groups. Of course, they wasn’t a punishment of any kind (apart from a polite reminder to sit down) if you were last – but regardless, no-one wanted to be that person. It was just hilarious how everyone scrambled to the floor, skidding, ruining trousers and all!
